Top 10 Pictures of 2009

As many people do, we're starting off the new year of 2010 by looking back at the top ten pictures from the Salon du Trendyloin in 2009.  Here they are:

10.
From the Powell-Hyde Cable Car.  Coit Tower rises in the distance.  Even resident San Franciscans can just ride the Cable Car for fun!  Plus there's a great reward at the end of the ride.  Look Below to
9.
Dessert burger from Hubert Keller's Burger Bar in the Union Square Macy's.  Darling whipped cream mouse and a tomato made of strawberry, ketchup made of raspberry mouse, mango gelatin 'cheese slice' and a glazed doughnut for the burger bun.  The burger itself was made of chocolate!  Of course.

8.
Zia wished everybody a Happy St. Patrick's Day and happy birthday to niece Devon.  She sits upon one of a pair of orange/pink chairs brocaded with a gold pomegranate pattern.

7.
Once again, I was lucky enough to spend the summer with one wonderful man!  My father Bill at Daylite Donutz in Hobbs.  The spelling is correct and they have Dr. Pepper on tap and cool air conditioning and friendly smiling faces and WARM DONUTZ!

6.
Zia breathing.  A good thing because it's getting harder and harder for her to do so.  Here she rests her tiny head on the back of the Salon du Trendyloin's settee while sitting on the red velvet pouf pillow.  We love Zia very much and count each day with her as a blessing.  But she was joined later this year by:

The Chihuahuas Pepper and Zia sit in their rolling bag at the outside cafe tables at their favorite Fillmore spot La Boulange.  Pepper hails straight from the pound in Salinas, CA via Wonder Dog Rescue.  Covered with fleas and missing more than half her coat, she was nevertheless described as 'very sweet' in her intake papers.  We're very lucky to add such a sweet, energetic and smart little girl to our crew here at the Salon du Trendyloin.

4.
As promised, at the end of the cable car ride is a great bar and restaurant - The Buena Vista!  Said to be the home of the original Irish Coffee drink, it does these drinks in style.  It's a great way to be Warming Up on a Thanksgiving Day.

3.
Always nice -- sitting Under the Dome at the mall on Market Street in downtown San Francisco.  The blue sky and clouds play above you.  You can shop or, my favorite, go to the movies in this mall.  A BART subway station is in the basement by the food court.

2.
Merry Christmas from the Salon du Trendyloin.  Another great Christmas Eve Open House had family and friends sharing in posole, green chile stew, cocktails, and the low-carbon yule log on TV.
1.
Number One is Naked Man on O'Farrell Street.  Riding the  No. 27 home from Market Street, someone shouted, there's a guy walking naked!  The whole bus gaped!  There he was.   "And there's the guy who got his clothes."  Sure enough, some fool was carrying the clothes in the opposite direction.  We had been having a cold wave here in San Francisco and this was the first time it'd was over 50 degrees in weeks.   I guess this guy thought it was warm enough to go Full Monty down O'Farrell towards the cable car turnaround at Market Street.
